The Greenville News Recognizes ACI Janitorial Employee
Born and raised in Greenville, SC, Lamanteen Mangrum Jr. has been a dedicated worker and family man for as long as he can remember. Now working with ACI Janitorial, Lamanteen has earned himself a spot in the limelight.
After working in textiles for 28 years, Lamanteen decided it was time for a change so he began working with ACI Janitorial in October of 2004. ACI brought Lamanteen to The Greenville News and that's where the real story begins.
Lamanteen starts his day early making sure everything is neat and tidy at The Greenville News. He is on site before most of the daily employees and every morning, as they all report to work, he greets them with a smile and a "hello, my friend." It's that short phrase that got Lamanteen company wide recognition.
You see, The Greenville News has a service recognition award for its employees, the A-1 Service Award. This is usually only awarded to News employees, not employees such as Lamanteen who work on site but are employed through another company. The entire staff of The Greenville News got together and decided to make an exception. They wanted to honor Lamanteen for his positive attitude and the outstanding job he does everyday. Steve Brandt, Publisher of The Greenville News, was on hand to present Lamanteen with the A-1 Service Award.
When asked how he felt about the A-1 Service Award and the ceremony that day, Lamanteen said, "I was very, very happy, almost in tears, and surprised. Nothing like this has ever happened to me and I would like to thank everyone involved."
